A New Era of Innovation Begins

Iridium Certus℠ will leverage the enhanced infrastructure, capacity and capabilities of Iridium NEXT to deliver reliable, versatile enterprise-grade mobile satellite broadband communications — anywhere on the planet.

Demand for satellite broadband is rapidly expanding. Revenue is forecasted to triple to over $5 billion annually over the next decade, with the L-band opportunity comprising one-third.

As a standalone or complementary solution, Iridium Certus broadband will offer a best-in-class combination of network throughput, superior coverage and quality, value and smaller form factors — allowing it to truly compete in the broadband market.

Iridium Certus broadband will be a best-in-class, mobile satellite broadband service delivering versatile, enterprise-grade, reliable, communications, anywhere and everywhere in the world. It will be the first of a new set of services and capabilities that will be enabled by the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation.

Iridium Certus broadband will provide high-quality broadband connectivity for individuals and organizations that have a business-critical need to reliably send and/or receive data. Iridium Certus will support data speeds eventually as high as 1.4 Mbps, more than 10x faster than the current Iridium OpenPort® broadband service.

Numerous users and applications for the service are expected in aviation, maritime and land-mobile industries. These include safety, operational, crew and passenger communications in the aviation and maritime industries, search-and-rescue operations, scientific exploration, communications for energy infrastructure and research outposts in remote areas of the globe, etc.

With expected speeds as high as 1.4 megabits per second for a single user terminal after Iridium NEXT deployment is completed, Iridium Certus is being built to support an innovative portfolio of partner products and satisfy a wide-ranging set of aviation, maritime and land mobile communication needs.

Enterprise Grade

Iridium Certus will be a highly capable, scalable and flexible platform designed to meet critical connectivity needs worldwide and reset all expectations in profitable markets others cannot or choose not to develop.

Iridium Certus will deliver the network availability, continuity, longevity and low latency required to meet even the strict demands of maritime and aviation safety services, and will support best-in-class partner products long into the future.

Iridium® stands alone as the only truly pole-to-pole global network, positioning Iridium Certus as the preeminent broadband service on the global scale.
